Patient search
The most used feature in the registry has been given pride of place on the main menu. This means that it is always possible to search for a patient, regardless of which registration page you are on. The search feature is used to find the correct patient to create a registration for, but also to add a completely new patient to the registry. If the patient you are searching for is not found in the registry, you can add the patient and then easily start the registration.
Search types
-
PERSONAL ID/COORDINATION NUMBER: You can always search for, and add, patients with personal identity numbers or coordination numbers. When you search for a personal identity or coordination number it is checked against the population registry. If the patient is found, information on name and gender is retrieved from there. A coordination number is an identifier for individuals who are not, or have not been, registered in the Swedish Population Register. A coordination number is assigned by the Swedish Tax Agency.
-
RESERVE NUMBER: Depending on a registry’s needs it is also possible to add patients with a reserve number. A reserve number is a temporary number that is used to be able to identify a patient with their care documentation when a personal identity number or coordination number is missing or unknown. A reserve number can have different formats and there is currently no national registry for these, so no automatic look-up is possible. Therefore, the user must enter the name, date of birth and gender of these patients manually. Specifying the date of birth and sex is mandatory as this information is important for data analysis purposes.
-
PATIENT ID: A registry can also add the possibility to search for "patient id". (Also called patient reference or PID.) Patient id is a system-generated reference to the patient. Use this reference id to avoid unnecessary exposure of patient data, for example when dealing with support issues. Patient id for each patient is displayed on the patient page.
-
CARE PROCESS ID: In a care process registry it is possible to search for the care process id that is shown at the bottom of every registration and in the excel export.
It is possible to configure the patient search function so that it works regardless of whether there is a population register where the personal identity can be looked up or not.
